The Webmaster of Harry&Hogwarts received the following e-mail from the Bloomsbury Publishing Company.Read it:

Hello Tejas,

We are delighted to tell you that we are now able to announce the
publication date of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JK
Rowling. The book will be published on 21st June, 2003 and will be 768
pages long.

In making the joint announcement, Nigel Newton, Chief Executive of
Bloomsbury Publishing in Britain and Barbara Marcus, President of
Scholastic Children’s Books in the United States said, 'We are thrilled to
announce the publication date. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
is absolutely superb and will delight all J K Rowling’s fans. She has
written a brilliant and utterly compelling new adventure, which begins
with the words:

“The hottest day of the summer so far was drawing to a close and a drowsy
silence lay over the large, square houses of Privet Drive … The only
person left outside was a teenage boy who was lying flat on his back in a
flowerbed outside number four.”

Later in the novel, J K Rowling writes:

“Dumbledore lowered his hands and surveyed Harry through his half-moon
glasses.

‘It is time,’ he said, ‘for me to tell you what I should have told you
five years ago, Harry.

Please sit down. I am going to tell you everything.’ ” '

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is over 255,000 words compared
to over 191,000 words in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The new
book is 38 chapters long, one more than Harry Potter and the Goblet of
Fire.

The price will be £16.99.

London: An American collector paid more than 28,000 pounds (45,000 dollars) for a card full of clues to the plot of the long-awaited fifth Harry Potter book.

The unidentified buyer paid 28,680 pounds for the card, handwritten by Potter author J K Rowling as a charity fund-raiser yesterday. The money will be used to buy more than 18,000 books for schools in Africa. Whether the buyer chooses to keep the contents secret remains to be seen.

A Harry Potter Web site operated by the New York-based Leaky, Inc, had hoped to raise enough money to make the winning bid and possibly to post the 93 words on the Internet for all to see.

The story of "Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix" is a closely guarded secret, and Sotheby's auction house in London only revealed that the words "Ron ... broom ... sacked ... house-elf ... new ... teacher ... dies ... sorry" are among the 93 words on the card.

Harry Potter fans, who have waited nearly 2 1/2 years for book five, have grown increasingly curious about the fate of their hero as the author has declined to reveal a release date for "The Order of the Phoenix."

After spending years looking for a surefire protagonist that clicks with children, Russian writer Dmitry Yemets finally has found one: an 11-year-old orphan who wields magical powers, casts spells to vanquish the chief villain, attends a school for young witches and wears glasses.

No, it's not Harry Potter. This orphan's name is Tanya Grotter.

J.K. Rowling, the British creator of the $1.5 billion Harry Potter juggernaut, was struck enough by the not-so-coincidental similarity between Tanya and Harry that she is threatening to sue Yemets if he does not make his 413-page "Tanya Grotter and Her Magical Double-Bass" disappear.

In a webchat from BBC.co.uk:

Tom responded to 14-year-old Felicia, who lives in Singapore. She wanted to know what he thought of his new-found popularity with girls.

"People keep saying that," he said, "but I never get to meet any of them!" But he said he loved catching up with fans at premieres and other publicity events.

Tom also talked a lot about what it was like on set.

He revealed he had to wear nearly a pot of gel a day to get his hair looking just right.

And in answer to Stacey from Portsmouth's question, he said that he and Dan got on brilliantly off-camera. With only 10 minutes a day filming, most of the time they were laughing and joking - but they made sure they turned on the hatred once the cameras rolled!

Why the next 'Harry Potters' may take a spell?

The film series' logistics offer challenges that a young wizard would find hard to overcome.

Now that "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" has scared up monstrous box-office numbers, just like the first movie, here's how the plot thickens in coming episodes:

Warner Bros. has been forced to hire a new director for the third installment. The original one burned out after the breakneck pace of back-to-back productions. The planned release date has been delayed because the parents of the actor who plays Harry wanted him to attend a prestigious school rather than being tutored on the set.

Meanwhile, the fourth J.K. Rowling adventure book is so fat -- 734 pages -- no one is sure it can be shaped into a single movie without slicing scenes, which could alienate the protective author and her fanatical young readers.

They were the eagle-eyed awkward squad who noticed the digital watch on the wrist of a survivor in the film Titanic - and the technician in blue jeans next to Maximus during a Roman battle in Gladiator.

Now, within two days of the film's UK release, fans have so far detected 32 mistakes in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. These range from visible wires towing a flying owl, a miraculous recovery from an arm fracture, and a cover-up job on Hermione's increasingly shapely leg.

They include a change in the London station from which the Hogwarts Express departs, an unscripted plaster cast, and an oversized basilisk.

The errors are being logged on moviemistakes.com, which posted 15 new reports of blunders yesterday, and on other fan websites. A further 10 complaints were disallowed as fallacious, as were grumbles about differences be tween the book and film. All the mistakes are errors in the continuity editing of the film, which was finished on a strict timetable after the huge box office success last Christmas of the first Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

The number of slips logged in the first weekend is higher than in the same period for The Philosopher's Stone, in which 124 howlers have so far been spotted.

But Harry Potter is far from seizing the movie world's most unwanted title. The most mistake-ridden film of recent years is The Matrix, with 178 slip-ups, followed by Titanic, with 152, The Fellowship of the Ring, with 146, and Spider-Man, with 144. Gladiator has 96.

By contrast, an older era of technical expertise without computer-generated effects produced 76 mistakes in The Wizard of Oz, 23 in Gone With the Wind, and 14 in The Sound of Music.

"Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" has pulled in a whomping $87.7 million dollars (actual total: $87,690,000) in the US. This is just short of last year's blockbuster hit, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" which made $90.3 million. That's still impressive you must say.

MPZ's review of the CoS film:

"Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! Wow! That praise is still not good enough for Harry Potter and the Chmaber of Secrets which splashed onto the silver-screen yesterday for it's nationwide release (in Malaysia)! First and foremost, before viewing the movie get one thing done; separate the indentity of the book from the movie (think of it as two different tellings of the same story) and then you'll have a great time.

The movie was indeed a little longer than the first, but only by a few minutes. Unfortunately, much has been cut, but I suppose it is okay because I am reviewing a movie not a comparison! In general, the movie is set afoot at a rather quick pace.Sometimes not explaining to the audience what things are, like 'house elves', 'floo powder' and 'rubber ducks' ;)! Some characters are not given an appropraiate introduction too, but as the movie goes on we kind of get to know them by ourselves. Of course there many different angles to view the film from, so I have covered all of them below.

Well, I just got back from the premier of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and I must say I was disappointed that they didn't explain Gildroy better and there were several things that were in the book that were missing in the movie, but for the most part it was fantastic! Highly entertaining and well done. Jason Isaacs was absolutely perfect for the role of Lucius. No one could have done it better. It definately rates 3 and a 1/2 out of 4 stars in my book!

Daniel Radcliffe comments on the Chamber of Secrets in an article at CBS News:

"I think it is better. But the first film was like really special. But I think the second film is even better,� says Radcliffe. �It's a lot darker and it's a lot edgier, but at the same time you've got people like Kenneth Branagh and Rupert Grint when he's belching out the slugs. That provides a balance of kind of � a dark side and a light side.�

Robbie Coltrain, Hagrid, said:He says he would have loved to have done some of the stunts performed by Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint in the film.

"I always wanted to be able to fly and it's something I still wish I could do. In the scene with the car chasing the train, I had dreams like that. Being invisible would be cool as well," he said.

The Discovery Channel show of "Discovering the real world of Harry Potter" turned out to be a great hit.Aired on Novemeber 14, 2002, it revealed the missing links between Harry's and our world.Also, the many things which gave Rowling ideas for her book were shown in a very explainative way.If you missed it, well... you really missed something!

I have been searching the Web all afternoon for some information to post. There is a conformation on Christopher Lee's official site that he has been approached to replace Richard Harris as Dumbledore in the third movie. Christopher Lee played Saruman in the Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Rings. I has also been said that Richard Harris's double from the first two movies, Harry Robinson, has also been approached.

Side note:Christopher Lee was first approached to play Dumbledore before Harris was, but originally declined the role because his schedule already included the LOTR series and the Star Wars Trilogy.

Due to Richard Harris's death, the search for a new Dumbledore has begun.The likely one is the actor who plays Saruman in the LOTR movies.
